Unit 6: note and character design

Here are the notes that were taking from the lecture. Just have the stuff Mr Klappa talked about.


Here on this note I was deciding on which life cycle I should do, and I chose to talk about slime molds, although at the time I have mistaken them for ferns. I was also working on the story for may animation. It takes place around the asexual reproduction. And the Story I have gotten from this is that there is a shortage of food for the slime molds so its time for them to go to as new location. But all the slime molds are dying at a fast rate. So all the slime molds decided to use the dead bodies to build a tower and get the younger slime molds (the spores) on top of it so they can ride the wind to a new location. I might need to work on the story a bit more, because I was aiming the animation to a younger audience although some children animation have some sad moments but end in a happy ending, example lion king.






Here are my character designs, at first I wanted to make the slime molds look human, but I thought that was silly. So I redesign the character to look more like a amoeba and it works. Its cute and probably cuddly, but it has some personality, the only thing I need to figure out is that do slime molds have a nucleus.
I design one slime mold to look like a construction worker holding a blueprint to show the slime molds what to do, and I gave the slime spores wings/gliders so they can ride the wind. I also made an elder slime mold who is most likely going to be the leader. I know some of these stuff sound silly, but that what I see when researching their asexual life cycle, although the elder slime mold is a bit too much.

Unit 6: Slime Mold fruting bodies research

Here is my research images on the fruiting bodies of a slime mold. They came from different species of slime molds some are red, yellow or white and they each have their own name. I kept on looking at the yellow slime molds, which are called Physarum Polcephalum, thinking it was their life cycle that Mr Klappa shown use. But with further research I discovered that the slime mold life cycle diagram belong to the Dictyostelium slime mold (the white one that look like a slug). but that doesn't matter because all the slime mold goes through the same life cycle but have different forms while doing it.

Unit 6: research on logs

I was researching logs with moss or Slime Molds on them for a nice scenery for my animations. The reason I chose to look at logs is because Slime Molds a most likely found in damp places and I thought choosing a damp log would be an ideal choice for the scenery for my Slime Molds. I thought looking for logs with moss would give me a better idea for designing my scenery concept art and help with designing the log to give it a damp appearance.

Unit 6: Slime Mold in a maze?

I decided to look use slime mold as my main subject for my animation, and I can across an interesting video about slime mold completing a maze puzzle, check it out.

Unit 6 fern antheridium a.k.a sperm

Today I was doing more research on ferns and I came across an interesting video about the antheridium of a fern, it shows how the antheridium travles to the archegonium (the egg of a fern. They move in a funny way like they are drunk, but when they do find the egg, all the antheridium have a huge strugle to get inside it.

unit 6: Researching slime molds

Today I have found some slime molds and fern videos. I thought they could help me and to decided which one I should focus on the most. I know I need to pick one so I thought I could look at these videos to make a definite choice, so far the slime molds are more interesting because they can change their size and shape, also they can grow really big which can be quite frightening. The fern are more plant like spreading their spores around the area to make more fern.

I might look at slime molds because they feel quite easy, but in fairness I haven't looked at too many fern videos, so if anyone knows some please tell me.

all of unit 5 animation lesson homeworks

here are all of my homework animations starting with the first homework and ending with the last one.
The first homework was to make a morphing animation which using things we like that begins with the initials of our name. The second homework is to make three bouncing balls, one that is a rubber ball, a bowling ball and a pin pong ball. and finally the last homework is to make a walkcycle then a walkcycle that is connect to the emotion our tutor gave use, mine was terrified.
