Two models in one day.

Today I have finally finished all of my 3D homework.
The first one is the toaster which I had already uploaded in my blog
The second was my Magnifying Glass.

Magnifying Glass
Scene Layout & Render

Making the Magnifying Glass wasn't very hard, it was actually very easy.
I would of finished it yesterday but room DM3, the room I was working in, was closing.
It closes at five. I don't think I have ran into any trouble while making the Magnifying Glass.

Electric Fan
Scene Layout & Render

Making the Fan was Long and very annoying to make.
There were so many parts to make for this model.
First was the fan blades, next was the support disc and the cage disc, then the fan head and the fan head detail, the fan stem, and so on.
The guide I was using to make the fan had alot of errors, but at the sametime it felt like a learning experience. Using your head when you get stuck.
In the end, it was all worth it. I have made a pretty cool fan that I am proud of.

My 3D toaster

Today I have finally finished my toaster.

Scene layout & Render

I think the only problem I had came across was the wire.
I did a mistake on it so I had to remake it, other that that this was quite easy to make.
I also realisedm right now, that I had forgotten to reposition my render camra.
Now it looks like the wire is plugged into the ground.
I don't know if this is an improvement or a bad mistake.

Taking Pictures.

Today I was fiddeling with my camra and I have discovered something when i was playing with the flash function.

The first image was taken with the flash.
To me, using the flash gave this picture a scary feel to it.
It just the background is so dark and the figure, me, is so bright.
Whats even strange is that the room has a light on.
What I find cool about this effect, was that I was very detaild, from the wrinkels from my shirt to the wrinkles on my skin.
and the highlights are mainly around my brow, nose, cheaks chin and my ear. The highlight sort of points out where the skull is more visiable, even though the ear has no bone, it feels like it.

This image was taken without the flash.
and it has a warm apperance.
although the picture looks clear far away, if you click on it, it is actually quite blurry. that is where the warmness of this picture comes from I belive. The background is more visiable then in the first picture. Although there are not much in the background, you can tell whats there, a coat and a door. In the first picture the coat looks longer then the second picture.

What I am getting at is that the flash and the lightness around the area does make a difference.
Just pick out which style you want. A dark, detailed scary picture, or a warm blurry picture.

Yesterday was life drawing day!

I had Life Drawing yesterday and I forgot to upload my new images.
Lucky I remebered, well here they are.

Life Drawing 1
Actial size & Close up.

I was doing straight drawing again and i realised i need alot of work on shading.
I also didn't like how the eye on the left on the picture turned out.

Life Drawing 2
Actual size & Close up

Yesterday we were trying out a new way of drawing.
using our thumbs and pencils as our own measuring guide.
This was an interesting way of drawing because we were using it to get the body proportions right.
However it can also be quite pain full on the arm, because we had to strech out our arms to get a more accurate measurments.
I was quite please on the drawing, it's too bad that the legs came out wrong.
Oh well, learn from your mistakes.

My questions for my essay

How far can people go to make them self's, or others, to look perfect?

Why people prefer false photos then real ones?

Does a portrait captures the outer shell or the inner beauty?

Last Week Maya Homework

Last week Thursday i had finally finished my Maya Dice Cube.
It may sound simple but it's not. There where so many steps to take.
The good thing , I had a guide to help me build my Dice
The first Step was to make a project file then save a sceen.
Next I had to make a 3D cube and re size it.
Though steps were easy the long and hard part are coming up.
Next I had to split the polygons of my cube and extrude the faces.
First I had select spercific faces on the cube first before I had to extrude them.
After that I then had to resize them. This part took me a while to figure out because once you select the square, some special features pop up on that lets you move or scale the cube.
the move feature is repersented by arrows while the scale feature is repersented by squares.
The scale features are at the tips of of the move features and are invisible.
When I finally the Scale feature I felt quite dumb.
I carried on exturding the Faces until they looks like little boxes.
So once I finished scaleing the selected faces I then had to texture it.
Texturing my cube felt quite easy actually, because I had the guide to guide me thought the steps.
Once I finished texturing my cube, all that was left is to make a scene, duplicate my cube and render the whole thing.

My thoughts was that I am glad, that I have finished my model and pleased of how it turned out.
If I could change something however, I would make the floor more interesting. Instead of just having one colour. I would like to add a casino table texture to it.

Last's Weeks Life Drawing Lesson

Last week Tuesday I had my first Life Drawing Lesson and I was a bit nervous. The thoughts that went threw my mind was, what will people think of my drawings, would the person who I was drawing will find it offencive, and so on.
However I was also interested in this, because I never went to a life drawing lesson before. So This would be a great learning experience.

Here are all of my drawings from last week.

Life Drawing 1
Actual Size & Close Up

The proportions in the picture are all wrong, the head is too small, the arms are too long, legs are too short and the body big.
When we began drawing our model I thought we were ment to use only one paper so I drew the model in a corner and quit tiny. If there is one thing i like about this picture, it would be the shape of the head.

Life Drawing 2
Actual Size & Close Up

The next picture is a little better because the arms and legs seem to be the right lenght.
The body still feels too big and the head is still too small.

Life Drawing 3
Actual Size & Close up

The Next picture was to try out drawing the model in straight lines.
and I thought this was actually quit fun. It just makes the picture a bit more interesting.

Life Drawing 4
Actual Size & Close up

This is the last picture and I think this is the the best one out of the four.
Especially the detail on the head.
